A little background information:
One of the biggest reasons why I joined the Pilot was so that I could build my art skills and have more opportunities as an artist such as internships or connections with other artists in the community. Going into the Pilot Program, I was consistently creating art and knew that I wanted to keep working and keep developing my style. In this first semester, I mostly drew with pencil, colored pencil, pen, or markers. My style at this point was not developed and I was struggling a bit to figure out what I wanted my style to look like.
Over time, I have grown my artistic process and style so much and it's important to remember that with independent learning ;
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PROCESS AND YOU HAVE TO ALLOW YOURSELF TO GROW AND RESPECT YOUR STARTING POINT.

In Pilot I have been busy working on a variety of different mediums. My main goal for this semester was to set a basic groundwork for myself and spend time experimenting with different art materials and getting used to having healthy art habits. I have been covering the four main art standards; {developing craft, performing/presenting/Producing, connecting, responding} this semester. I worked a lot at developing a broader artistic range and to push outside my pre-existing ideas of what perfect art” was.” I think I learned a lot about myself as an artist and a person, letting go of unnecessary stressors in both my art and also regular life. I hope that this years work can act as a foundation year and experiment for my art studies in the next Pilot years to come.
HERE IS MY STARTING POINT!
During this period of time, I focused a lot of my time on finding balance in my artwork.

I also practiced being more aware of my artistic process.
Part of this was documenting my process instead of just the final product.

"Wild Girl"
These images are a good example of my documenting process.
At first, I was honestly not very good at saving my art or taking good photos of my work, as you can probably see.
But over the years, I have improved this skill so much as you can see if you go to my art page from Junior or Senior Year.

Part of my project in this semester was going to see the Boston Ballet perform 'Coppelia' and afterwards reflect on the performance. I got art and P.E. credit because these subjects were rather intertwined at this point.
