PHYSICAL EDUCATION
My P.E. studies this year have been vastly focused around dance; specifically modern, contemporary and ballet. I’ve also been teaching dance at the Calais Elementary school as a part of CES’s drama club program I volunteer at. I’ve been a part of three shows total. Firstly, I choreographed a dance to the song “Watch” by Billie Eilish and performed it at U-32 during my companies show “Lumiere”. The biggest show I was in was “Alice in Wonderland” with moving Light Dance. This show required me to attend 4 classes/rehearsals a week that allowed me to train and rehearse for the show I recently finished. Shortly after that show ended I directed the dancing and acting at CES’s show of “Alice in Wonderland”. Needless to say I’m very sick of “Alice in Wonderland” now. This semester I was working towards a variety of standards including; {Motor skills and movement, Application of knowledge, and physical activity and fitness.} I show this evidence through a series of photos and videos and I keep logs of all the time I spend dancing. At the beginning of the semester the other part of my study was yoga, and I created and practiced some routines of my own and also went to a class. Although this practice routine slowly trickled away as dance go busier I think the two went hand in hand in helping me be a better athlete of sorts.

TOTAL AMOUNT OF TIME IN DANCE STUDIO: 24O HOURS
THINKING ABOUT HOW TO HAVE A HEALTHY MINDSET IN A DANCE ENVIRONMENT:
excerpt from my narrative
"I struggled to manage my excessive amounts of time at the dance studio while still staying healthy. Because I had so many classes and rehearsals each week for so long, I found myself getting into this “automatic robot mode” when I went to dance. There was a period of time when I felt bored with the classes, or I felt like I didn’t fit into the atmosphere at the dance studio. Going into that “automatic mode” was my way of coping with exhaustion and not wanting to be at these classes. I think that as soon as I acknowledged this about myself I started to make an effort on how I could start healthier habits at dance. Things like eating a good dinner, acknowledging the stress I had instead of avoiding it and then getting even more stressed out. I started creating healthier habits so by the end of the season going to dance was not a chore, it was a learning opportunity that I looked forward to every day. "
